Wolff sees difference between Bottas and Hamilton: "Lewis has a head start on that

Valtteri Bottas managed to achieve pole position in Imola. The Finn seems to be very fast over a single lap, but for an entire race, the Finn underperforms compared to his teammate. According to team boss Toto Wolff, that is also the most important thing he should work on.
"He is really super fast on a fast lap and you could see that again today," Wolff told ORF. The Mercedes team boss not only looks at Saturday but especially on Sunday. He sees that Bottas can still have a hard time there, with the great pressure from Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen behind him.
Bottas closer to Hamilton?
“The race is all about understanding and maintaining the tyres. I think Lewis still has a head start on that." Although Wolff now sees a clear lead in the quality of the reigning world champion, he does think that Bottas can take on Hamilton in the future.
“We also see that Bottas' learning curve and development curve have grown tremendously, indicating that he is getting closer to Lewis,” Wolff expects. Whether Bottas can continue that growth in Imola is still the question. Hamilton and Verstappen will be eager to take the victory from the Finn from Mercedes.
