F1 World Championship final standings: McLaren takes third place in final race
The season is over and the Constructors' Championship is now complete. There are no surprises at the top of the list, but behind that, there was plenty of battles over the season between McLaren, Racing Point and Renault.
Mercedes untouchable
The winner in the Constructors' Championship has already been clear for a number of races. Mercedes won 14 of the 17 races and scored a whopping 254 points more than Red Bull Racing in second place.
At Red Bull Racing, the points were mainly won by Max Verstappen with a total of 11 podium places, two of which were victories. He scored more than twice as many points as his teammate.
McLaren takes third place
It was a lot more exciting at the top of the midfield. After Sergio Perez's victory in Bahrain, Racing Point seemed to take third place in the championship, but in Abu Dhabi, McLaren managed to put a stop to that. The possible penalty for Carlos Sainz seemed to throw a spanner in the works, but the punishment was not forthcoming.
Disappointing Ferrari
Ferrari closes the 2020 season with sixth place in the championship, the worst result since 1980 when they finished tenth. With a 13 and 14 place in Abu Dhabi, it does not look too rosy for 2021 either. It has also been a disappointing season for Williams. The team is last in the championship and did not score a single point.
