In a flashy new video from Red Bull Racing, Sergio Perez is invited to take a lap around the brand new circuit in Miami, which hosts its first Grand Prix on May 8. One problem: he has to get there from New York in one day.

To achieve this, the Mexican gets into his Red Bull Racing car and goes on a road trip. This takes him through the busy streets of New York, where he can even count on a fine for illegal parking in Chinatown.

All this arouses the necessary attention of the local media, causing team owner Christian Horner to follow the whole scene on television and to have a heart-to-heart with his driver. Then his journey takes him through the Everglades in Florida, where a real alligator crosses his path.

Perez eventually arrives at the circuit of Miami, which at that time is still under construction. After several unsuccessful attempts, Horner finally gets in touch with the Mexican and there appears to have been a hilarious miscommunication: "I made it, I'm here today," Perez says, only to be corrected by his team boss: "I said in May!"

In a Red Bull Racing press release, Perez says he loved his road trip and that it's something he's always wanted to do. "I remember seeing the one of Daniel crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and never thought I would get the chance to be part of it," he says.

The Red Bull driver thinks Miami is the perfect place for Formula 1, partly because of the energy in the city. "The track is looking awesome and I can’t wait to see all the fans there. Austin always feels like a home race for me and I think Miami will be similar," Perez said.
